Area 51 Tour
Area 51 Tour (Alien) Highlights
“Far out” of Vegas, leaving the glitz and glamour of the Strip behind, surrounded by miles and miles of undeveloped desert, lies a mystery. Area 51, known worldwide as a secret military base within the Nellis Test and Training Range, is so secret the government did not acknowledge its existence until 2013!
According to UFO conspiracy theorists, this is where the Pentagon has stored frozen extraterrestrials and recovered alien spacecraft, especially in an area on the base known as Groom Lake. We’ll drive up the highway, also known as the Extraterrestrial Highway, where you just may see a UFO, as some have claimed.
The tour will take you north from Las Vegas on U.S. 93 to Crystal Springs, basically a junction where U.S. 93 connects to the ET Highway. Here, we stop at must see ET Fresh Jerky, a roadside stop that sells amazing jerky in such flavors as Teriyaki Time Travel. A photo stop next to the store’s cool alien murals, and back on the road!
Next, when we arrive at ET Highway, there’s another photo op, the ET Highway sign. In 1996, Nevada State Route 375 was renamed the Extraterrestrial Highway and a public dedication was held in the community of Rachel in conjunction with the 1996 movie “Independence Day.”
Back on the road again and the next stop is the Alien Research Center gift shop. A giant alien statue gives us an opportunity for another photo, and we’re on our way to Rachel, population 54 according to 2010 U.S. Census. It is home to the Little A’Le’Inn, a roadside stop that includes a bar, restaurant and motel. Here, we browse for alien souvenirs and take advantage of yet another photo op, a tow truck pulling a UFO which is a permanent fixture in the Little A’Le’Inn parking lot. After a very tasty Alien Burger we journey to the infamous Black Mailbox location, (the mailbox was recently abducted) a sacred meeting place for UFO enthusiasts. We then arrive at the absolute perimeter of Area 51 through a strange and mutant Joshua Tree forest where the guards (The Men In Black) with their high powered weapons, forever stand watch along with detection devices, listening devices and cameras mounted among the cactus. The signs read, “Top Secret Military Facility, Keep Out, Use of Deadly Force Authorized” and from experience, I guarantee you they mean it. You can wave at the heavily armed guards in the 4×4 parked on the desert hillside but they never wave back. They just wait and watch from behind their darkened windows. It’s very scary to some, exciting for others! Which one are you?!!
